Hardscape + Outdoor Kitchen

A side yard can be more than the path you take to get somewhere else. At this Acworth home, GreenTree brought a paver passage, planting beds, trellises, and an outdoor kitchen together in one narrow space.

Making use of a narrow side yard

The space runs between the house and the fence. That shape is easy to overlook when you picture a backyard project: there is room to move through it, but less room to spread out. The finished layout gives that passage another purpose. You can walk through the garden and use the kitchen along the way.

A patio and outdoor kitchen in one layout

Pavers carry the passage along the house, giving the space a continuous surface. The outdoor kitchen sits within that layout instead of becoming a separate destination at the far end of the yard. The paving connects the cooking area to the rest of the passage, so the hardscape and kitchen read as one project.

This is a useful example for a homeowner considering an outdoor kitchen in a smaller space. The question is not simply whether a grill and counter will fit. It is whether there is still room to walk, prepare food, and use the space around them. Those are the details worth talking through before choosing finishes.

Planting makes the passage feel like a garden

Beds and trellises bring planting alongside the paved route. The result has more texture and greenery than a walkway bordered only by siding and fencing. The planted edges also give the long, narrow space something to look at as you move through it.

Planning something similar?

You do not have to start with a wide, open backyard to create a useful outdoor space. A side yard may have possibilities too. Bring us the space you have and the way you would like to use it. We can talk through the layout, access, and the balance between patio space and planting during a walkthrough.

Got a side yard doing nothing? Let's fix that.
