Blueberry Ridge

Landscape Design + Install

Blueberry Ridge brings a backyard putting green, boulder retaining walls, buried drainage, and a seating terrace to a wooded hillside in Milton. It is a landscape built around both the slope and the ways the finished yard can be used.

Working with the hillside

The change in level is still part of the finished landscape. Boulder walls shape the hillside, while stone slab steps and timber-step paths connect its different areas. The project combines regrading and retaining walls with planted ground, rather than turning the entire slope into one paved surface.

The drainage belongs in the plan

The project includes underground downspout and drain lines alongside the grading work. Those features are less visible than the putting green, but they are part of the same landscape. For a similar sloped-yard renovation, drainage and regrading need to be considered with the areas you want to build and plant.

A putting green with more around it

The putting green and chipping tee give the yard a clear activity. A fire-side seating terrace on slate gravel offers somewhere else to spend time. New sod and hillside planting connect those features to the rest of the property, while the paths provide a way to move between them.

That combination makes this more than a turf installation. It is an example of planning a backyard putting green as part of an outdoor living space. The green, the seating, and the routes between them all take up space. Seeing them together helps a homeowner picture what a complete project might involve.

See the finished landscape, and hear from the homeowner

The gallery shows the boulder walls, green, steps, planting, and seating terrace. The homeowner video below adds his account of the project in his own words.

Have a slope you would like to use?

Start with what you want to do outside. Practice your short game, sit around a fire, or simply have a more usable yard. From there, we can walk the property and discuss how landscape design and installation could bring those ideas together.
